Let me guess…
You constantly think about the well-being of your child.
Every minute of your day is fully booked and you have little to no time for yourself.
But when suddenly a little window of Mommy-time opens up…
Your mind goes blank…
Don’t worry.
With this list of 9 Self-Care Ideas for busy Moms, I’ve got your back.
And yes, they only take 10 minutes (or less!).
Let’s dive right in:
1. Buy Yourself Flowers
If you’re anything like me, flowers lift your mood and they make you smile whenever you look at them.
The next time you pass by a grocery store or a flower shop, pick a cute bouquet of flowers for yourself.
Remember that you don’t have to have a reason to have fresh flowers in your home.
A happy Mom is reason enough.
Choose your favorite flowers and put them in a spot where you can see them anytime.
See it as a little reward for your hard work Mama.
2. Prepare a Healthy Snack for Yourself
Most Moms stand at the kitchen counter with a growling stomach while they prepare food for their children.
They don’t even remember when they had their last meal.
Are you one of them?
Then take your time to prepare a healthy snack for yourself.
When you fuel your body with nutrients, you have more energy to tackle your day.
Little side note:
Most people who forget to eat, also forget to drink.
Don’t be one of them… drink some water. It energizes your body and makes your skin glow.
3. Do Nothing
Whenever a Mom crosses something from her to-do list, she adds two new things.
Moms are always busy.
But that shouldn’t stop you from taking a break.
Kick your legs up on the couch, close your eyes, and deliberately do nothing.
Resting doesn’t mean being unproductive. It gives your mind and body a moment to catch up with your busy day.
Enjoy your little moments of peace and let them fuel your soul.
4. Clean Something up That Bothered You for a While
If you’re thinking:
I have 10 minutes for myself and you ask me to clean? You must be crazy.
Part of me nods in agreement.
But hear me out.
When something bothers you whenever you look at it – the only act of Self-Care is to remove that thing from your sight.
The challenge is to clean something up that annoyed you for a while but only takes 5 to 10 minutes to clean.
An orange juice stain on the counter? Crumbles under the kitchen table? A pile of magazines?
You know best what bothers you.
Pull up your sleeves Mama.
In 5 to 10 minutes the nuisance is gone.
For good.
The next tip will make this one a lot more fun, so keep reading.
5. Listen to Music
You probably know from experience that mundane tasks like cleaning are way better while listening to music.
So blast your favorite songs, Mama.
And don’t worry about hitting the wrong notes as you sing along.
6. Pluck Your Eyebrows
This tip is only for the Mamas who like to have plucked eyebrows, but sometimes forget doing it.
Keep reading, if that’s you.
After plucking my eyebrows, I feel a lot better about myself.
If a tweezer casts the same magic on you, grab it and start plucking your eyebrows.
It doesn’t take much time but it’s so worth the effort.
7. Read an Article in a Magazine
5-10 minutes aren’t enough for a chapter in a book, but why not read an article in a magazine?
I bet it’s been a long time since you’ve done that.
But there is something relaxing about flipping pages and taking your time reading.
So grab your favorite magazine and enjoy reading.
8. Write a Gratitude List
Did you know that you have a lot of power over your feelings?
You can feel good in an instant when you focus on all the good things in your life.
And who doesn’t want to feel good?
Grab a piece of paper and a pen and write down all the things you’re grateful for.
You could write down little things like:
I’m grateful for my coffee today.
Or…
I’m grateful that I have time to focus on myself.
Only write down things you’re really grateful for.
If your coffee is lukewarm, it shouldn’t be on your gratitude list.
Have fun writing Mommy!
9. Stretch Your Body
Do you sometimes wonder why you have back pain or your muscles feel tight?
Here’s my answer.
And I bet you know it too…
Sitting on the floor, playing with toy cars, isn’t helping your posture.
(But I get why you do it…the smile on your toddler’s face is a million times worth it.)
Carrying your baby around for hours is a tough (but also worth it) exercise.
But do your body a little favor and stretch.
Listen to your body as you stretch and enjoy that little moment for yourself.
I hope you liked my list of 9 Self-Care Ideas for busy Moms that take under 10 minutes.
